Post Three

In this post i will be finishing my models body, the next step is to cut some new edges in the models legs with the slice tool, I will create some socks for my character using the same process i used for the sleeves and the shorts. Cut the old geometry make some new edges and move them down the legs creating some simple socks.
Unfortunately the legs are too large to fit into the ankles so some overlapping has occurred, this is simply rectified, by grabbing the scale tool and scaling the newly created edges into the models socks, I have made my model see through so you can see what i am talking about.
This process is repeated again for the boots; slicing the polygons and then moving the newly created edges inside the bottom of my models boot, scaling after everything is done to create a wonderfully simple visual effect. Then the last thing to do is to bevel out a foot for my character.
The next step was to move any vertices, or edge that i was unhappy with including the hands, for me there was no life in straight fingers so i started to bend them just to add some detail to my character.
Next i want to make a collar or neckline for my model, someplace his t-shirt ends and the neck starts, to do this i grab the cut tool, select edge mode and start to cut around the neckline in a complete circle.
Then with the line selected click the chamfer tool and create a second line next to the one created.
The next step is to select the outer line just created and move it up scale it on the different axis to overlap the inner line, this will hopefully give the impression that my model is wearing a shirt.
Next point in the creation process is to add some basic colours to the different sections of my models body. To do this open up the material editor, click on a new grey material, click the standard button and select the multi/ sub-object material type, if it comes up with a box select discard.
After this, set the number of colours to 5, and set up the colours you want, i have picked a flesh tone, red for his t-shirt, blue for the shorts, black for his boots and finally white for the models socks.
To get these colours to show up on my model i have to select the polygons I wish to colour, and in the polygon properties select the Material ID.
With the 5 colours set up and the polygons set to their corresponding ID, the model’s body is finally complete. The final thing to do is lengthening his sleeves and shorts because these seem to shrink when turbo smooth is applied. Here is the finished product, complete with colours and turbo smooth.
